First Time Wearing Contact Lenses

The first time wearing contact lenses can be a bit unnerving for some people, but you will be happy to know that the contacts which have been created today are incredibly advanced and can be worn without any pain or discomfort.

There is a great deal of information that you should know about contact lenses before making the decision to try them yourself. First, you of course need the approval of your optician because not everyone is eligible to wear contacts. If you have a serious or unique type of eye condition there may not be a contact lens that can accommodate for your condition yet.

Let’s go through a typical morning of a first time contact lens wearer:

• Wash your hands and remove the left lens out of the fluids, located by colour or the imprinted “L” on the container
• Use your cleansing agent and gently rub your lens between your finger and your thumb
• Make sure to rinse the lens thoroughly before putting it in your eye to avoid unnecessary discomfort
• The wet lens will stick to the tip of your finger and use the other hand to spread the eye lid open wide
• This may take several tries, you will find the lens on your nose, the top of your eyelid or even on your forehead before get the lens in your eye
• It is a good idea to cover the bottom of the sink with a towel to make sure you do not lose your lens down the drain during your first few attempts
• Be patient and repeat these steps as many times as needed, you will get it!

In the beginning it can be frustrating to put the lens in and take it out but when you get used to it you will not even notice you are wearing them.
